How to Repel Fleas: Natural Repellents

Pets and fleas come hand in hand, and if you’re a pet owner, you must be prepared to deal with them. Getting rid of fleas on your furry friends isn’t easy.
Using chemical treatments on pets to manage fleas can be harmful. Your pets could succumb to cancer, kidney failure, or poisoning.
Luckily, within your household, you can find some items you can use on your pets to kill fleas and repel them from future manifestation. Please have a look at some of our tips below.
1. Salt
This is one of the surest ways to kill fleas in your house. You can use salt around your home and vacuum as a way of dehydrating the flea eggs.
2. Essential Oils

Essential oils aren’t only useful for baths or making our homes smell good. They can provide opportunities to prevent fleas in your home as well. The best essential oils to use for repelling fleas are those that emit strong odors such as citronella, garlic, lavender, and eucalyptus.
You can either add a few drops to the salt before you sprinkle it around the furniture in your home or put a few drops into a bath. One other way to use essential oils for your pets is by adding it to a spray bottle to spray around the area your pet sleeps.
Alternatively, dab some essential oil onto a scarf and tie it around your furry friend to make an exotic flea collar. Cats can easily get irritated by some essential oils, so it’s vital that you research which ones you should use on your animals.
3. Cedar:
You can use cedar beds as effective flea repellents. Or, mix up dried lavender, lemon peel pieces, and cedar chips as you vacuum for use as air deodorant.
4. Soap or Baking Soda
Here’s a trick you’ll appreciate if you don’t want to drain your energy to get rid of fleas. Mix baking soda or soap with some water and put it into a dish. Next, lay the plate down near a light at any corner of the room your pet can’t reach. Now, watch as the light attracts the fleas. The fleas will jump into the dish you laid out and drown.
5. Vinegar:

Vinegar has a strong smell, which is probably why it repels fleas. Add some vinegar into your pets’ bath and put some into their drinking water too.
